In Faro de Maspalomas, you have access to long coastlines filled with wide, sandy beaches. Your kids will find sanctuary and paradise on the white beach of this wonderful gay destination. You can lie in the sun with your family or have fun with the kids in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. It’s almost always warm which is perfect for swimming and the entrance is pretty easy to find.
If you’re travelling with your kids, Faro de Maspalomas could be the best destination to go to because of its peaceful and quiet nature. It is far quieter than Play del Igles, which is more for a wild, fun gay time. Faro de Maspalomas also boasts its accommodation options with tons of hotels and resorts whether you’re looking for something on the luxurious side of the scale or if you’re interested in something that is friendlier to your wallet.
This post is dedicated to all the gay dads out there. I would, definitely, add Faro de Maspalomas on your bucket list for a fun time with the family. The beach is in close proximity, a short walking distance, from some incredible hotel options. In this gay destination, the locals are extremely hospitable, friendly, and there is a shopping center nearby where you could get some souvenirs from your gay trip.
Kiosk 7 is a gay beach with an option to swim in the nude that is perfect for the nonconformist gay dads. This gay beach is about a 15-to-20-minute walk from Faro de Maspalomas. It’s a wonderful option if you decide to take it, but, of course, there are other options if this isn’t what you’re interested in.
Faro de Maspalomas is a gay destination that is well-connected by several bus routes. You can take a bus from Play del Igles, which will take you around 10 to 15 minutes, or an hour from the airport. Even if these hotels are not labelled as gay or gay-friendly, a destination such a Gran Canaria is unlike any other in Europe. It is extremely open to everyone, no matter their sexual orientation, age, gender, or nationality. Gay people are always welcomed to visit this gay destination and, in my opinion, it is one of the safest places for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Since this article is dedicated to all you gay dads out there, these hotels are also perfect for children. Make sure to find a place that has breakfast included since it would save you a lot of time and energy. Some of these hotels are all-inclusive, which means meals and drinks are included within the price of the room. So, keep your eye out for these offers.
The hotels in the gay destination, Meloneras, are super close to the beach. Most of them are only a 5-to-10-minute walk. This will be far more comfortable for your kids and gives them more time to enjoy the gorgeous sun of the beaches.

In Faro de Maspalomas, you should expect a more relaxing and peaceful time and not those raging parties that you will find in other places. If you wanted to escape for a night and go wild at a party, you can find these in Yumbo, Playa del Igles. You can read more about it here.
Faro de Maspalomas has a wide selection of restaurants and terraces for awesome lunch and dinner options. Even if you’re a fan of brunch, and you know gay men love their brunches, this is the place to go to. The area has a panoramic view of the crystal-blue waves of the Atlantic Ocean. You can enjoy a bite to eat while sipping on some mimosas and the kids could enjoy the relaxing atmosphere.
To give your children a little bit of fun, Yumbo is the perfect spot in the evening where there are tons of street entertainments, some karaoke if they wanted to sing their hearts out, and tons of souvenir shops where they could awe over the handmade, cultural pieces.
I think its important to mention that Yumbo is a loud, party place. It may be in your best interest to visit it in the afternoon or in the evening as opposed to late at night. This might be a better time to explore the area with the kids.

Gran Canaria has one airport which is, of course, called the Gran Canaria Airport. It hosts tons of domestic and international flights and is well-connected with U.K., Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, and many others.
The airport is around 35km from Faro de Maspalomas but there are tons of bus routes that can get you to the beach very easily. Click here for more information. You can even take a look at my recommendations below so you don’t get lost:
- There are several direct buses such as: No 66, No 90, and the number 5 night-bus.
- The bus will take around 45 mins to 1 hour.
- You can always opt to go by taxi which will take almost half the time but keep in mind that the price will be around 8 times higher than the bus.
- The bus station is a 3-to-5-minute walk from the airport.
I do have one last recommendation for all you gay dads. Please keep small euro bills or coins while you explore because, as far as I know, it’s not possible to pay by card.
